Virtual Internet Pets Based on Java-enabled Mobile Agents
نویسنده
چکیده
A novel Internet e-business application, titled Virtual Internet Pets (or VIPs for short), which provides a blend of both entertainment and education, and a humancomputer interface to simulate life-like pets and interactions with them is presented in this paper. The virtual pets incorporate distinguished features like mobility, autonomy, location tracking and flexible routing with the help of Java-based Mobile Agents. This technical report focuses on the main features of the application and the system architecture to support them.

Web-based Spatial Information Management Systems
In this paper we discuss the innovative software solutions offered by e-Spatial technology for the deployment of webbased and mobile spatial information management systems. This technology has been developed within the Oracle 9i Database environment and allows users to build and deploy spatially enabled Internet applications on any Oracle supported hardware platform and on any device running a ...
متن کاملJava for On-line Distributed Monitoring of Heterogeneous Systems and Services
The control and management of Web-based service quality require the extension of the Internet infrastructure with monitoring functions to ascertain dynamically the state of networked resources. We describe the design and implementation of the Monitoring Application Programming Interface (MAPI), a Java-based tool for the on-line monitoring of Internet heterogeneous resources, which provides moni...
متن کاملReaching out to the Cell Phone with Jini
Jini has made considerable inroads as an enterprise computing platform, but it hasn't fulfilled its promise as an ubiquitous computing platform for thin-clients. A roadblock has been that full participation in a Jini community requires devices to support a fully capable Java virtual machine, something that is a challenge for mobile devices (e.g., cellphones). The Jini Surrogate specification ai...
متن کاملMobile Agents as an Architectural Concept for Internet-based Distributed Applications
After introducing the concept of mobile agents and potential application domains, we motivate why mobile agent technology is an interesting concept for large Internet-based system structures. We then describe the Java-based WASP agent environment which integrates agent execution platforms into WWW servers and thus promotes a world wide infrastructure for mobile agents. We sketch first prototype...
متن کاملMole 3.0: A Middleware for Java-Based Mobile Software Agents
Mole is one of the first Java-based mobile agent systems. It runs on an unmodified Java virtual machine on PCs under Windows 95/NT and on workstations under several UNIX dialects. Earlier versions of Mole have provided a basic infrastructure for communication and migration of mobile agents. Version 3.0 of Mole has been strongly revised and several requests and proposals from users of the earlie...
